This Netizen Got His Driver’s License Cut in Half by a Bogus MMDA Traffic Enforcer!

traffic enforcer is supposed to guide motorists on the road for their safety and for them to adhere to traffic rules and regulations. In Metro Manila, they work under the MMDA (Metro Manila Development Authority), who oversees the traffic on the road.
However, not all traffic enforcers are to be trusted. Facebook user Ronan Pastrana posted a video on his account wherein he detailed his encounter with what he alleges is a bogus MMDA traffic enforcer. His video has already garnered 302 thousand views as of this writing.
The screen capture above is of the bogus traffic enforcer who Pastrana encountered. According to his video description, he encountered the man as he was driving along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City bound towards Tandang Sora at around 3:00 in the afternoon of June 23.
Pastrana got hailed by the man for “overspeeding,” or going beyond the required speed limit. According to Philippine Star, Commonwealth Avenue has a speed limit of 60 kilometers-per-hour. The netizen admitted to this certain violation and narrated that he pulled his car over.
When he approached the traffic enforcer, Pastrana was shocked beyond words when the enforcer asked for his driver’s license and then cut it in half. Pastrana mentioned that he had a temporary driver’s license with him at the time, which has a five-year validity period. Both his license card and temporary license were placed in the same case and the traffic enforcer took them both.
Pastrano narrated that he also had a hard time obtaining his ticket for the violation since the enforcer made it difficult. But what he couldn’t comprehend was why his license was cut in half by the traffic enforcer. He also asked netizens if what the enforcer did was legal.
According to MMDA’s website, a traffic enforcer can only confiscate a driver’s license but legally they are not allowed to vandalize the license, this includes cutting it in half. They are also not allowed to confiscate a driver’s license if the violator has only committed his offense for the first time.

Drivers, beware! If you regularly ply Commonwealth Avenue, please be wary of this allegedly bogus traffic enforcer and report him to the proper authorities! Let us know your thoughts about this in the comments section below!
